Approved National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2026 to 2030 Will Strengthen Critical Infrastructure Protection

4. februára 2026

Slovakia has a new strategic compass for protecting digital space.

The Government of the Slovak Republic today approved the National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2026 – 2030, which responds to dynamically growing cyber threats and brings a clear vision of how to strengthen the resilience of the state, public institutions and critical infrastructure.

The Critical Infrastructure Association of the Slovak Republic was also actively involved in the creation of the document. As part of the inter-ministerial review process, it submitted expert inputs that were reflected in the final version of the strategy, which confirms the strong professional position of AKI SR and its ability to bring concrete and implementable solutions.

The material was submitted by the National Security Authority, a strategic partner of AKI SR. The cooperation, also anchored in a memorandum of cooperation, has once again proven to be a functional model of linking the state and professional practice. The common goal is to ensure that the adopted measures do not remain only on paper, but actually help protect energy, transport and public information systems on which the daily lives of citizens depend.

However, with the approval of the strategy, the work is only beginning. This will be followed by the preparation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2026 – 2030. It is precisely this that will determine the specific steps and measures that will ensure the practical implementation of the strategy. AKI SR will continue to be an active partner of NBÚ and a guarantor that the voice of critical infrastructure is heard in all important decisions.

The Critical Infrastructure Association of the Slovak Republic continues its series of articles focusing on basic services under Act No. 367/2024 Coll. on Critical Infrastructure. This time, we look at a basic service that remains largely invisible to the public, yet its disruption can have an immediate impact on transport, industry and the wider economy – the operation of pipelines for the transportation of crude oil and fuels.

Several incidents in the space of a single week. And in one case, 4.2 GW of generation capacity was temporarily taken offline. Germany is dealing with a series of attacks on its electricity grid that highlights one important point: the target does not necessarily have to be the power plant itself.

Niekoľko incidentov v priebehu jediného týždňa. A v jednom prípade dočasne vyradená výrobná kapacita 4,2 GW. Nemecko rieši sériu útokov na elektrickú sieť, ktorá ukazuje dôležitú vec: terčom nemusí byť samotná elektráreň.

District heating and cooling are an important part of the energy infrastructure of cities and municipalities. Their role is not limited to providing thermal comfort; they create stable conditions for the functioning of households, public institutions, industry and other facilities. As energy systems become increasingly technologically complex, the importance of their reliability, preparedness and ability to respond to operational disruptions is also growing.

Diaľkové vykurovanie a chladenie predstavujú významnú súčasť energetickej infraštruktúry miest a obcí.
